Thinking about trips and family
has brought a lot of memories to mind.
One, of which, I would like to share with you.
(But please, don't hurt me for getting this song stuck in your head.)
I'm sure by glancing down at the lyrics you all know where this post is headed.
All of my life I've been driving either from Gilmer to Littlefield/Lubbock or vise versa to visit grandparents,
aunts, and cousins, or whoever else would give me individualized attention. Riding with Mamaw and Granddaddy, we always
listened to the yellow cassette tape with this very popular song. Plus, if I remember correctly, Kristin was also very fond
of the cassette tape when she was young, too. We also listened to the tape some on the way to Catfish
Village, until Michael, or some other bah-hum-bug adult made us turn it off.
So here's a little refresher in case anyone forgot!

Meredith, I can hear the man singing it right now! LOL! I think the tape needs to be passed down to Jackson. However, we need to find it on CD.
ReplyDeleteOh my, do you remember when we were stuck in Dallas traffic for hours and Granddaddy rolled down the windows and turned up this music REALLY loud???
ReplyDeleteYes, he turned up the Yellow Tape music!!
DeleteHe turned up the Disney music? That's too funny. I remember when we were on a trip and the van broke down (I think). I apparently was talking a bit too much for Grandaddy and he told me to be quiet. When we finally got things taken care of, he told me I could talk again. I replied with,"I dont have anything to say now!" evidently everyone thought that was funny. I was just being honest!
ReplyDeleteThere is actually a YouTube video of this song, as well, Delaine. I haven't thought about looking for a CD of it... but yes, Jackson definitely needs to be cultured. This is a very important song for all of the cousins.
ReplyDeleteMother comments that she wishes Michael was going, and that if she drew his name for the magazine exchange, she would give him the yellow cassette to enjoy on the plane!!
